Across the field the motif fades in and out of a soft sand-coloured ground, dense and saturated in places, barely a whisper in others. The hand-spun wool forms the warm, dove-toned ground; the \u003cstrong\u003esilk carries the blue and turquoise of the pattern\u003c\/strong\u003e, catching the light so the floral seems to glow against the matte wool.
