Wool & Viscose Rugs

Here wool forms the body of the pile, and viscose is added for sheen and contrast, often in raised or highlighted parts of a contemporary design. The result wears better than a pure viscose rug and has more lustre than plain wool.

Viscose is usually machine-spun, which gives a smooth, bright surface. Some of our series use hand-spun viscose instead, with a grainy, slightly darker look; the product description says which. Some of these rugs are sold under the trade name “Sari Silk”; the fibre is viscose.
