Rugs approx. 200 × 300 cm
The standard European living room size, and the one most people are looking for. At these dimensions the front legs of a sofa and the chairs around it stand on the carpet, the coffee table sits comfortably within the field, and there is still bare floor left to the skirting.
One thing it is not, despite being frequently bought for it: a dining format. A chair needs 60 to 70 cm to be pulled out and sat on. With a table 90 cm deep on a rug 200 cm wide, only 55 cm remains on each side, and the back legs drop off the edge every time someone sits down. Either turn the table across the rug with three chairs to a side, or move up to 250 × 300 cm.
