Provenance and Rabat Tradition

Unlike the geometric, single-knot Berber rugs of the Middle and High Atlas, Rabat on the Atlantic coast carries a workshop tradition since the 18th century — organised manufactories producing denser, more disciplined work for urban interiors, distinct from the free hand of the Atlas tribes.

This piece is hand-knotted by Amazigh weavers in the Rabat region, in the manufactory's top quality class. The pile is 100 % pure new wool on a cotton foundation, soft underfoot and built for daily use.

Quality — 20/20 Triple

The 20/20 triple designation marks the Rabat manufactory's premium grade: approximately 320,000 pile threads per square metre, with a weight of about 6.5 kg/m². The "triple" refers to the three-pass weft technique between knot rows, producing a particularly stable structure and a uniform pile surface. This is the build quality of a workshop piece, unusual to find at this small format.

Where This Rug Finds Its Place

At 140 × 70 cm (2.3 × 4.6 ft), 1.0 m² this is a small accent piece. Three contexts in which the Rabat reaches its full effect:

• Entryway runner: the manufactory quality holds up well in the most-walked area of the home, and the format fits standard entryways.
• Bedside rug: placed beside a single bed, the soft wool pile gives a warm step at start and end of day.
• Layered styling: over a larger neutral floor covering, the dense pile and tight pattern reads as a confident accent.
