Rugs approx. 250 × 300 cm
The first format that works properly under a dining table. With a table for six, this size leaves roughly 60 to 75 cm of rug beyond every edge, so the chairs stay on the carpet when they are pulled back — which is the whole point, because a chair leg dropping off the edge damages it.
In a living room it allows the more generous arrangement: every piece of seating standing entirely on the rug rather than just the front legs. In an open-plan space it draws a clear boundary around the sitting area.
At a glance
- Actual dimensions vary within this range — hand-knotted rugs are measured, not manufactured
- Dining: comfortable for six; for eight around a longer table, see 250 × 350 cm
- If a door swings across the rug, check that it clears: a hand-knotted rug is 8 to 15 mm thick, and if the gap under the door leaf is smaller it will catch
