A light beige field leaves space around the finely drawn central medallion of this vintage Qum, framed by floral borders. Silk pile on a silk foundation gives the surface a sheen that shifts with the light and the angle of view.
Origin
Qum (also Ghom or Qom), south of Tehran, became one of the most important centres for fine silk rugs in Persia in the 20th century. Its workshops are known for precise drawing and dense knotting in pure silk. This vintage piece is knotted entirely in silk, pile and foundation, and is in very good condition. Design and Colour
The composition is restrained: a central medallion with fine floral drawing on a light beige field, enclosed by floral borders. The pale palette lets the silk do the work: depending on the light, the field reads from warm sand to a cooler, lighter tone.

How do I care for a silk rug?
Vacuum gently in the direction of the pile. Leave deep cleaning to a specialist rug cleaner. A non-slip underlay is recommended on smooth floors.
Is the rug suitable for underfloor heating?
