An exclusive designer rug from our Djoharian Design line, hand-knotted in India in merino wool and Matka silk. An ornate damask drawn in the modern erased manner — faded and oxidised so the pattern dissolves softly into the ground, in amber, gold and blue.
The Erased Vintage Design
An all-over damask of scrolling florals covers the field, but it is drawn in the contemporary erased & oxidised manner: the pattern is deliberately faded and worn back, so amber and gold motifs dissolve gently into a deep, shadowy ground. A soft, abrashed grey-blue border frames the field like light at the edges. The effect is at once antique and thoroughly modern — the kind of vintage-look designer piece that suits today’s interiors.
Wool & Matka Silk
The pile combines 70% merino wool from New Zealand with 30% Matka silk from China. We sought out village women who still master the art of hand-spinning, so the wool carries a natural irregularity in the yarn that gives the surface its depth, while the silk catches the light and lifts the motifs. A relief cut at varying pile heights adds further dimension, and the hand is exceptionally soft. It is hand-knotted in India over a pure cotton foundation, with a pile height of roughly 9–11 mm.
Colour
A melange of amber and gold plays across a dark, smoky ground, with cooler blue notes and a pale grey-blue border. The palette is warm and quiet, easy to live with and easy to pair — equally at home with natural wood, leather and contemporary upholstery.
Presence in the Room
At 244 × 174 cm (4.25 m²) this is a versatile medium-size rug — a true 6 × 8 ft format:
- Living room: a warm centrepiece under a coffee table or in front of a sofa.
- Bedroom: a soft, luminous surface at the foot or side of the bed.

Purchases above EUR 1,000.00 must be declared to the German Customs office. Please allow two additional business days for processing the Export Declaration Form prior to shipment.
