This Antique Sarough (Sarouk) rug is a remarkable survivor from the golden era of Persian weaving, knotted between 1900 and 1930. While many Saroughs from this period were crafted in rust or red tones for the American market, this specific piece features a rare Deep Indigo Blue field. Blue-based antique Saroughs are significantly harder to find and highly coveted by connoisseurs for their sophisticated aesthetic and collectible character.
The design captures the elegant transition from the botanical, curvilinear motifs of Art Nouveau to the structured, balanced floral sprays that defined early Art Deco. Known for their exceptional knot density and the use of high-grade Persian highland wool, these rugs remain as durable today as they were a century ago.
