A hallway is the hardest place in the house for a textile: grit, wet shoes and constant traffic along one line. Choose a dense, short pile in a darker or busier pattern, and put an anti-slip underlay beneath it.
Measure the free floor rather than the corridor. Leave 10 to 15 cm of floor visible on each side, and check that doors open freely over the rug. Runners as well as small rugs for an entrance are included here.
