Three ways we advise you
In the showroom
Our rugs are stacked, not rolled. You see each piece whole, in daylight, and you can check the back. Bring a photo of your room and its measurements and the conversation gets concrete.
At your home
We come to you in Würzburg and the surrounding area with a pre-selection, lay the rugs out and move furniture with you. Wall colour, daylight and floor tone only make sense together.
By phone or WhatsApp
Send a photo of your room with the measurements. We will tell you which size is right and suggest three to five rugs — often the fastest first step.

Choose online, decide at home
Nobody should buy a rug they have only seen on a screen. Our home viewing service reverses the order.
STEP 1
You make a shortlist
Save what you like in the shop, or simply send us the article numbers. Three to five rugs is a good number.
STEP 2
We bring them over
At an agreed time we deliver the selection and lay it out — carrying, rolling and turning included. We usually add two pieces you would not have thought of yourself.
STEP 3
You decide unhurried
See the rugs in daylight and under lamplight — colours shift noticeably in the evening. If the right one is among them, you can decide for it. If not, we take them all back and, if you wish, go on looking for the one that fits.
Within 50 km of Würzburg the home viewing service is free of charge. Beyond that, on request.
The right oriental rug for the room
The most common disappointment in buying a rug is not the pattern but the size. Chosen too small, any room looks restless and pushed together. A few rules we go through in every conversation:
Living room
The rug should gather the seating group, not disappear beneath it. As a rule of thumb, at least the front legs of sofa and armchairs stand on it. For typical living rooms that means 6.6 × 9.8 ft (200 × 300 cm) or 8.2 × 11.5 ft (250 × 350 cm) — almost always one size larger than you first think.
Dining room
At least 28 in (70 cm) of overhang beyond the table edge all round, so chairs do not catch on the edge when pushed back. Flat-woven qualities are more practical here than a high pile.
Bedroom
Either one large format under the whole bed, showing at least 24 in (60 cm) on each side, or two runners at the sides. Soft wool qualities are what you notice getting up.
Hallway
The hardest-worked floor in the house. Densely woven wool with a high lanolin content takes it and cleans well. We make runners to the exact centimetre.
Study and home office
A rug damps reverberation noticeably — with a lot of video calls it is the most effective cure for a hollow-sounding room. Flat qualities let office chairs roll.
Underfloor heating
Not an obstacle. Flat wool rugs without a dense latex backing are suitable; the heat comes through. We will tell you what to watch for on each individual piece.

Where can I see oriental rugs in the Würzburg area?
At home, if you like — we bring the selection to you. Our showroom is in Lohr am Main, about 45 minutes by car, where the rugs lie in stacks and you can see each one whole.
Does a home consultation cost anything?
No. Travel, laying the rugs out and collecting them are free within 50 km of Würzburg, even if you decide against every piece in the end. No obligation to buy arises at any point.
How long may I keep a rug on approval?
We agree that with you individually, depending on the piece and on your situation. Either way, take the time to see the rug in daylight and under lamplight; colours shift noticeably in the evening. If none of them fit, we collect them all.
Do you carry PAULIG and MAKALU?
Yes, we are an authorised dealer for both brands and will advise you on them in the showroom or at your home. Both also produce to your measurements. We show samples during the consultation.
