Zebra Wool & Silk Rug

Flowing zebra stripes in blue and turquoise reinterpret an Art Deco motif. Hand-spun Tibetan wool gives the surface a subtle irregularity, while the slightly higher silk pile creates a tactile relief that catches the light.
The Zebra Design
The Zebra design belongs to our own Djoharian Design line, hand-knotted in Kathmandu, Nepal. The stripes run freely across the field without a border, so the rug reads as a graphic surface rather than a framed picture. More designs in our Tibetan and Nepalese rug collection.
Material and Quality
The pile is 60 % hand-spun Tibetan highland wool and 40 % natural silk, knotted on a cotton foundation. The silk is left slightly higher than the wool, so the stripes stand out in relief and change with the light. With about 100 kpsi and a pile of around 8–10 mm, the rug is soft underfoot and keeps its drawing crisp.

At 93 × 163 cm (3.1 × 5.3 ft, 1.52 m²) this is a small format with a strong graphic presence:
- Bedroom: beside the bed, where wool and silk are felt underfoot every morning.
- Entrance or hallway: a bold first impression on stone or wooden floors.
- Study: a calm but distinctive accent under a desk chair or reading chair.

Can I order Zebra in another size?
Yes. Zebra can be made to order in other sizes and colours; ask us for a quote via our bespoke rugs page.
Why is the silk higher than the wool?
The silk is clipped slightly higher on purpose. This lifts the stripes into a gentle relief that you can feel, and it makes the sheen change as you walk around the rug.
Is the rug suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes. A hand-knotted rug with a natural-fibre pile lets the heat through without problems. More in our guide to rugs and underfloor heating.
