The Arijana Tribal Line
Arijana kilims are hand-woven in the workshops of southern Afghanistan near the Pakistani border — a region with a long tradition of tribal flatweave. The Arijana idiom reinterprets the historic tribal designs of the area in highland wool, coloured with natural plant dyes. The wool is hand-spun, the structure is a pure flatweave with fringes on both sides, and every piece shows the slight irregularities that mark hand-woven work.
The geometric tribal vocabulary works equally well in modern interiors, in loft settings, and as a layered foundation in other rooms.
Colour and Design
This kilim shows the Tribal Diamond motif in a quiet natural beige and brown palette — the colours of the highland wool in its undyed and lightly dyed range. The result is a calm, neutral chromatic register that lets the geometry of the rug read clearly and pairs easily with most interior palettes.
Presence in the Room
At 130 × 209 cm (2.7 m², approx. 4 × 7 ft) this is a medium-format piece. Three contexts in which it reaches its full effect:
