Sabah Beni Ourain
5 × 7 ft · 140 × 200 cm · Ivory & Saffron
Djoharian Design Sabah, hand-knotted in the Khenifra region of Morocco, in merino wool.
Provenance and Sabah Collection
The Sabah collection is a Djoharian Design creation, hand-knotted in the region of Khenifra in Morocco. Unlike traditional Beni Ourain rugs from village production, the Sabah line is produced to our own design. The pile is made of merino wool, which gives Sabah pieces a soft feel underfoot.
This piece was hand-knotted in the Khenifra region of Morocco from 100 % merino wool on a wool foundation, with a deep pile of 18 to 22 mm.
Colour and Composition
A quiet, contemporary composition: an ivory-cream ground with a regular all-over grid of small saffron-gold cross motifs. The piece is new, with a saffron-and-ivory striped kilim end-band and natural wool fringes.
Presence in the Room
At 140 × 200 cm (5 × 7 ft), 2.8 m² this is a small-to-medium format. Three contexts in which the Sabah works well:
- Living room reading corner: the deep pile and soft palette suit a single armchair or a small seating group.
- Bedside: a soft surface beside the bed for bare feet.
- Minimalist scheme: the ivory-and-saffron palette adds warmth to a reduced interior.
